A Stroll Through the Hebrews_

This is the author's introduction to the book:

People in the first century were struggling with the many viewpoints going around concerning the gospel message. There was conflict over which day of the week the church must meet and how much, if any, of the Law of Moses one must keep. Not that much different than what we find even today in the 21st-century church. This stroll through the book of “Hebrews” will lead you to a solid understanding of just how God expects His people to live among and relate to those who do not share your biblical worldview.

Now it is time for my reflections on my husband's book.

The picture on the cover of _A Stroll Through Hebrews_ is of the Temple at Hebron. I have come to understand when reading my husband's books you will not find what you expect to find. Major themes that are common in preaching and teaching are left for your pastor to preach and teach. You will find that he does write about what is truly found in the Bible, and yes, there is a book named “ Hebrews”. The themes that he picks up on are far less common points of discussion. There is real life application of the pieces of scripture which he expounds upon. “Hebrews” chapter one has quite a discussion on angels and so in chapter one of _A Stroll Through Hebrews_ you will find a lengthy discussion on angels. This discussion will heavily weave in many other places in scripture where the ministry of angels is a part of the Biblical narrative. The discussion of angels also weaves in an example of personal experience. It is essential that we not just have an understanding and literacy of the Bible, but intertwine a living understanding of what this looks like in our lives.

Please read_ A Stroll Through Hebrews_ with an open Bible following along in the Book of “Hebrews” and looking at the other passages of scripture in the Bible. An example of things that you would not expect to find in the book is a discussion on Caleb for Hebrews 11, the great cloud of witnesses, or hall of fame, as we call it. Caleb is not mentioned anywhere in Hebrews 11, but this discussion of Caleb is quite relevant to “Hebrews”.

There are many other great insights in this book. I don’t want to ruin them all. “Hebrews” gives us insights into applying the Old Testament to Jesus and the finished work of the cross. _ A Stroll Through Hebrews_ will give you fresh insight into the treasure found in the book of “Hebrews”.

May the Love of Jesus capture your heart. He loves you more than you can fathom.

Grace
